Q         Let us talk about these cars that were in front of you at that time.  Were they both in the same / lane as you or were they in a different lane?

A         They were in my lane, as I recall.  At that / point, the road is only one lane for traffic going to the north and one lane for the traffic that / is going to the south.

Q         So both of those cars were in front of you at that time, and both / of them were in the same lane as the lane that you were in.

A         Yes, sir, that is correct.

Q         Can / you tell us if you were able to see around either one of those cars?  Do you remember if you / were able to see the road in front of those cars or did they obstruct your view?

A         Well, I don’t / know just what you want.  I guess that you would say that they were blocking my view of the road.  / I could see as well as you could expect to be able to see.  Anything that is front of you / will block your view at least a little bit.

Q         What kind of car was the one that was right in / front of you at the time right before the accident?  Do you remember the make of the car?  Do you / remember or not?

A         I don’t remember.  I do not pay a lot of attention to cars.

Q         You don’t have an / opinion one way or another; is that correct?

A         Yes, sir.  That is correct.  I don’t know.

Q         Do you remember whether / or not it was a pickup truck or a regular car?

A         It was a car.  It was light blue, and / I think that it had four doors.  I believe it had four doors.  Yes, sir.  It had four doors.

Q         Now / let us talk about the other car, the car that was in front of the first car.  Do you remember / what kind of car that was?

A         I don’t know.  It may have been a pickup truck or it might have / been an SUV.  I don’t know.  It was quite a long time ago.

Q         Can you tell us if / you remember either of the cars in front of you stopping in the road or slowing down in the road / at that time?

A         I did have to slow down for the car in front of me, but I thought that / it was about to make a turn.  It did not turn.  It went straight down the road.

Q         It did not / start to turn and then stop; is that correct?

A         Yes, sir.  That is correct.

Q         How fast do you think that / that car was going at that time before it started to pick up speed again?  Can you give us a / rough guess?

A         I would say that it had slowed down from the 35 mile per hour speed limit down / to about 10 or 15 miles per hour. I believe that that is correct.

Q         It went down to 10 or / 15 miles per hour.  Did it stay at that speed for any length of time or did it speed up / right away.

A         It went slow for a couple of hundred yards, if I remember.  It went slow for a while.  I had / to slow down because of it, and I remember that I thought that was odd at that time.  I could / not see any reason for it to go slow if it was not going to make a turn.

Q         Mr. / Davidson, was there a time when that car came to a full stop?  It may have been for just a / second or two.

A         No, sir.  I don’t think that it went any slower than the 10 miles per hour speed.  / It was not at a stop at any time that I can recall.

Q         Now before that car had slowed down / to the 10 or 15 miles per hour that you say, do you recall if the car in front of it / had put on its brakes or if it had also slowed down in any way?  Can you tell us that? /

A         I could not say.  It may have, but I don’t know if it did or if it did not.

Q         Now / before your car came to the scene of the accident do you remember seeing a man on the side of / the road.  I do not mean a man in a car, but a man that was standing by himself on / the side of the road.  Do you remember anything like that?

A         No, sir.  I don’t think I remember anyone like / that.  There were people out on the sidewalk, and there were people that were going in and out of the / stores, but I don’t remember a man that was just standing there on the side of the road at that / time.
