Steno Question No. 6

A great man leaves clean work behind him, and requires no sweeper up of the chips.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning

THE SITUATION:  You have trouble remembering your briefs and phrases.  This is causing you to stumble on the tests.  You don't like that.

THE QUESTION:  How can you stop stumbling on briefs?

For this question, we have enlisted three of our writers.  They each wanted to offer their own special slant on the topic.

ANNA MAE TEDLEY:  Grrr, grrrrr, grrrr.

BARB DEWITT:  (Witness froths.)

JOSEPH KINAIM:  I agree with Anna Mae and Barb.  You really shouldn't be using briefs that you haven't memorized.  You learn your briefs during drills and practice.  You use them during tests.  There is a big difference between the two.  Briefs are worthless if you can't instantly remember them.  Stroke it out on a test if your briefs are hazy.
